![]() ![]() Using photography as a fictive medium and creating complex realities, diCorcia elaborates uncanny compositions which lay between documentary and theatrically staged photography. Later series such as ‘Streetwork’, ‘Heads’ and ‘A Storybook Life’ often played with powerful strobe lights placed discreetly in public places during the daytime. In 1990, he began a series of photographs of hustlers and came to prominence in 1993 with a solo show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. American photographer Philip-Lorca diCorcia is well known for his dramatically lit slices of life, orchestrated portraits and contemporary takes on the vanitas theme. ![]()
